NSW DIVISION A

NSW DIVISION B

NSW DIVISION C

Advantage: All penalties attract advantage. If the team being infringed against has possession or immediately regains possession, play will continue until the offending team regains possession. As soon as that happens the whistle is blown and play stopped. The referee raises his/her right hand to signify a penalty has occurred. Advantage never expires.

Offside: Do not cross over the centre line into the attacking area before the ball does. If the ball goes back across the centre line, all attacking players must go back across the centre line to the defensive end before attacking again. The referee raises his/her left arm to signify a team is offside. The referee shall declare a team clear when all players are back onside.
Penalty: Face off at off side face off point.

Icing: Automatic icing will occur when the ball is shot from the defensive side of the centre red line and the ball crosses the opposite goal line without interference from the opposing team or passing through the goal crease. Icing will be waived away if the opposing team does not make a reasonable effort at intercepting the ball before it crosses the goal line.
Penalty: Face off at icing face off point.

Hand Pass: Passing the ball to another team member using your hand, deliberate or not while outside the defensive third.
Penalty: Face off at nearest face off point to offender's disadvantage.

Obstructive Fall: Knocking a player over whilst on one or both knees (or lying). This generally occurs when a player slides on their knees to tackle. Not only is this a penalty but it is very dangerous.
Do Not Slide On Your Knees !!
Penalty: 2 or 5 minute send off.

Slashing: The act of hitting an opponent or their broom with your broom, with the intention to hinder their play. This includes coming down on a players stick. * Stick checks are legal so long as they are a small tap in an upwards direction with the intent to get the ball. Hitting the stick so hard it flies up, or lifting the stick too high or stick checking while having no chance to take posession can be called slashing.
Penalty: 2 or 5 minute send off.

Tripping: Knocking a player over (taking out) whilst on both feet.
Penalty: 2 or 5 minute send off.

High Stick: (i) You cannot make contact with the ball with your stick above shoulder height.
(ii) Baseball type swings are not allowed. (Dangerous stick).
Penalty: 2 minute send off.

Body Checking: Mixed broomball is non contact and thus all players must make an effort to avoid contact of any nature. Failure to do so is a penalty and against the spirit of the game. If unsure about who initiated the contact then send both players.
Penalty: 2 or 5 minute send off.

Gear: All protective equipment must be worn underneath clothing. (Wear baggy pants.. no shorts)
Penalty: 2 minute send off, player can't return until gear is covered.
